This band grew out of the fertile creative environment around Stanwood and Camano Island, Washington. Singer/songwriter/rhythm guitarist Roger Ludwick and drummer Kevin Miller had been playing together for nearly 10 years. Guitar, bass and keyboard player Mark Dodge joined in the summer of 1999, and the band worked diligently on songwriting and recording emotional, melodic, somewhat trippy songs, resulting in Time Heals.

Here's some kind words from other folks:

"Time Heals is one exquisitely produced album. These Camano Island gentlemen have all been making music for decades, and it shows. They've crafted a mellow, great-sounding CD, full of jangling guitars, snaky leads, and well-considered percussive effects. The level of musicianship is top-notch, and the singing is heartfelt." - Jim Nauseam, What's Up! magazine, Bellingham, WA.

"Moby Grape meets The Allman Brothers."

(We're not sure whether this next one is a good thing or a bad thing:) "Thank you for the great CD. We listened to it today and we all enjoyed it tremendously - it will be a regular play here at the office."  - Howie Jensen, DDS. Tame enough for the dentists office, yet wild enough to rattle your molars?

Past Shows
Giza is no longer together as a band, but One Ton of Ducks, the band (including two of the three original Giza members) now performs most of the songs from this record.

Kevin "Wild Man" Miller

June 7, 2003 - Its a Farewell to Kevin party at the Fabulous Stanwood Hotel Tavern. Kevin is heading off to Boston soon, and no doubt eventually will become a Red Sox fan. As horrible as that may sound, we are even more upset to be losing one of the best drummers in the Northwest to the Northeast! Come on down to the tavern and help us give Kevin a real hard time about all this. Good drummers are hard to find, so this may be the final gig for the "Gizers" as we know them. Since this is a party, we'll be providing some cheap but oh-so-nutritious snacks, and we'll also be giving away some random free stuff. Opening the show is "Chuckanut Drive" - Giza takes the stage around 10:30pm. The Stanwood Hotel Tavern, 26926 - 102nd Ave NW, Stanwood. 360-629-2888.

Kevin "Nomar" Miller

May 25, 2003 - Private party at "Club Tazio," which turns out to be Stanwood-Camano's best venue for live music! A super stage in a big barn with a killer sound system and light show! A great time was had by all - 6 bands and good company. Thanks, Tazio!

May 17, 2003 - Private Party.

February 15, 2003 - another hour of mostly original rock music with a few lovingly interpreted covers, presented Saturday evening for your edification at the Fabulous Stanwood Hotel Tavern. A new tune or two, a little tighter all the time. We're counting down the months before Kevin, our incredible drummer, moves to Boston this summer. There is something special that happens to a band that comes only from years of playing together, so come on down and see what 10+ years sounds like before Kevin is gone. The Stanwood Hotel Tavern, 26926 - 102nd Ave NW, Stanwood. 360-629-2888.

December 21, 2002 - It's a Christmas Party at the fabulously funky Stanwood Hotel, featuring GIZA starting at around 10:15pm, followed by the neo-surf sounds of The Manatees, who will be performing The Ventures Christmas Album! Keep your normal holiday music - give me the Ventures! Special holiday stuff will be done!

September 28, 2002 - The Stanwood Hotel Tavern - Stanwood, WA. Giza will take the stage around 10pm. Also appearing are Sicxs, an up-and-coming Seattle band fronted by Roger's son Brett! How cool (or weird) is that? Also appearing is Stanwood High School band Exit 212, who did a great job at the Stanwood-Camano Music Festival's Electric Equinox rock concert earlier this month. Come on down, it's gonna be fun!
