What's a Healing Monkey?

Healing Monkey is a loose affiliation of top local musicians who get together on an unspecified yet consistently periodic basis to play unstructured, untethered, and unrestricted improvisational instrumental monkey jazz, often under unscheduled circumstances. Healing Monkey currently comprises Patrick Donicht on bass and percussion, Thomas Kemper on drums and percussion, and Mark Dodge on guitar, bass, keyboards and percussion.

Healing Monkey plays periodically during the colder months, at the History of the World Part IV Gallery on beautiful South Camano Island 3311 E. Camano Drive. Why only the colder months? Because the bandstand is 10 feet off of the ground in the loft, and it gets darn hot up there in the summer!

Recent appearances:

  • December 18, 2004 from 1:00 to 3:00 PM - exhibit: Honey, I Shrunk the Art
  • November 20, 2004 from 6 to 8 PM - during Gallery Fest
  • October 16, 2004 from 5 to 7 PM - benefit for Mary Margaret Haugen

Healing Monkey is related to another band called Pocket Monkey, who record their performances every year at the Pilchuk Glass School Show opening at the History of the World Gallery.
